Welcome to EndlessFX.com! My humble space on the web. My name is Joseph N. Tran, and I am the author of this site and the randomness that sprinkles it. Now some background about myself along with the evolution of this site…
I am a graduate from the University of California Irvine with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Social Behavior, Minor in Business Management. Representing the Class of ‘98!
I spent four hard years during school, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Those four years involved a lot of soul-searching, and a lot of indecisions. A common theme was the apprehension for failure. Thankfully, I used that time in school to get over those fears. I learned that without failure, you will never be able to succeed. So I took my chances, tried to seize opportunities, and took on new challenges and adventures whenever they presented themselves ahead of me. I learned a lot about myself, about what drove me, and motivated me. I discovered the passions that would allow me to figure out what I would want to do with my future. Basically, what would make me happy and content with my own life.
Those paths led me down the road to Web and Graphics Design, and eventually to my lifelong love of Photography. Which is kind of funny when you think about it, since I had young goals of going into Sports Medicine (I’ve always wanted to be a team trainer), Pharmacy (both of my parents are retired Pharmacist), or Physical Therapy (I was a PT Assistant for two years after graduating). Olympic Swimmer, speaker, and motivator John Naber once said, “Life is a collection of self-fulfilling prophecies.” He couldn’t be more right. In the end we are destined to be what we deem ourselves to be. We really are only limited to what we set as our own limitations.
So why the jump from an area like the health sciences into the fine arts arena? It’s fairly simple, I chose to follow my heart. I get a kick out of creative endeavors and making a beautiful end product that not only I can be proud of, but also those who share in my work. It’s not to say that my heart wasn’t in those other areas, but I knew what drove me, and it was seeing the satisfaction and excitement that others exuded from my work. That was the reward, that’s what fueled me.
The birth of EndlessFX.com (2003), came at the heels of my previous Studio, Visual Repose. The studio comprised of a pair of in-house designers putting out personal and info pages for small businesses, local shops and individuals. Upon splitting up, I took it upon myself to form my own entity as well as contract work to other design teams. EndlessFX.com was born during the summer of 2003. The focus was simple, stick with what worked and move forward from there.
We move forward to the present day, and EndlessFX.com has become an outlet for my collection of thoughts, ideas, experiences, tips, and a place where I can share my Photography work with you. I find it more fitting to structure the site this way, and leave the focus of the business aspect on EndlessFX Studios.
Hopefully you took the time to go through that reading. I know it wasn’t a terse piece at all, but usually if you’re on a site like this, you’ve got some time to burn. Sharing that bit of insight into my past, introduces you to a piece of my life. With that knowledge in hand, hopefully your continual visits to check on my work and my thoughts will provide you with light entertainment throughout your long work day, especially when you need that bit of distraction. Or perhaps you’re reading this at night, in the comforts of your home. In that case, I truly hope that you get something from each visit here. Don’t be shy, leave me a comment, drop me an email. Let me know what I’m doing right, and of course what can be improved upon!
Much love,
-JT
